PREVENTIVE DENTISTRY

preventive care

Preventive dentistry focuses on the maintenance of oral health and the prevention of dental diseases and disorders. Regular preventive care can help avoid the need for complex and costly dental treatments in the future.

Preventing Dental Decay:

  • Pit and Fissure Sealant: The chewing surface of molars is protected by applying a thin coat of plastic material to the grooves, sealing off the areas where food particles and bacteria can accumulate.
  • Fluoride Application: Fluoride helps strengthen the enamel, making it more resistant to decay. It can be applied topically to the teeth in the form of a gel, foam, or varnish.
  • Enameloplasty: The reshaping and contouring of tooth enamel can help improve the appearance of teeth and reduce the risk of decay.

Prevention of Gum Diseases:

Oral Prophylaxis: A deep cleaning procedure, also known as a dental scaling and polishing, helps remove plaque and tartar buildup, preventing gum disease and promoting oral hygiene.

Prevention of Crowding:

  • Serial Extraction: The removal of certain deciduous (baby) teeth in a planned sequence to create more space for the permanent teeth.
  • Space Maintainer: A custom-made device used to preserve the space created by the removal of deciduous teeth, ensuring that the permanent teeth have enough room to emerge without crowding.

Benefits of Preventive Dentistry:

  • Early detection and treatment of dental problems
  • Reduced risk of tooth decay and gum disease
  • Maintenance of a healthy and attractive smile
  • Improved oral health and quality of life
  • Lower dental treatment costs in the long run.

At RIEA Medical and Dental Implant Centre, we believe in the importance of preventive dentistry and strive to educate our patients on the benefits of maintaining good oral hygiene and regular dental checkups.
